A I'm a huge fan of MSR tents, using the Hubba Hubba (super light weight) model. MSR is known for making superior tents. You may also want to try a Big Agnes tent too (Seed house 2, & the mountain tent) - super light weight and strong. I have alot experience with The North Face, Mountain Hardwear, Kelty, Eureka, etc. but I don't think they're as good as any of the other two for backpacking. Integral Designs makes a Siltarp 2 which is good for emergency shelters, etc. Keep in mind that tents from Coleman, LL Bean, REI, Sears, Cabela's own brand will be much heavier, and not as well built.
